    Plymouth in the sunshine! #
  • 18:45 I've just seen a woman wearing camouflage trousers and bright yellow crocs. Surely the two cancel each other out? #

He was asked about the sub fielder they'd put on because Will Jefferson was injured, and who was involved in three run outs, and he said "Well, we're not going to put a flid on, are we..." *winces*

Yup. It's not a word you hear too often these days, but back when I was a kid, that was what you called someone who was disabled. It comes from the word 'thelidomide', don't know if you've heard of that or if it was before your time?

Well, basically back in the 1960s there was this drug invented called Thalidomide, and it was tested on guinea pigs and there were no side effects and so it was given to pregnant women to stop morning sickness. But unfortunately it caused horrendous deformities in a lot of babies' limbs where basically they failed to grow properly. And so, because people are awful, anyone with a physical deformity or any kind of disability were called 'flids'...

LOL, that's the thing with Hoggy, he won't have said it with any malice or anything, he won't have known.
