Because of the rain delay in Birmingham, they're currently showing the final day of that Edgbaston test, which I believe was exactly five years ago today.

It's still so stressful to watch, even though I know the outcome!

Ha! I was just about to post the exact same entry!!
I've been actually sweating a bit watching it. Ridiculous.

Isn't it daft! I had my head in my hands at one point!

That's one day I will never forget - I have never been so stressed over a cricket match!

Trent Bridge that series stressed me more, I think! Only just though.

Oh god, that was another horrendous one! They certainly put us through it!

I know.
By the end of the series it was like:

*slap round the head*
DONT *slap* EVER *slap* DO THAT *slap* TO ME AGAIN *slap*
*tearful hug*

I was exactly the same!

The final day of the final test was sheer torture. I was away on a training course and had people texting me with updates but I wasn't able to check my phone very often, and it was a nightmare! I was so stressed that I couldn't even eat my lunch!

The great thing is that before that year I'd only been mildly interested in cricket. I sort of understood it and sort of didn't mind it being on the telly but wasn't overly bothered about it.
Now I adore it and can spend whole weekends (like this one) in front of it even if not much is going on.

I do wonder whether any series, Ashes or otherwise, will ever be as gripping as 2005 but the possibility keeps me glued.
Having said that though, the first Ashes match last summer was also mega trying. I did wonder if I could go through all that again!

I'd been watching one day cricket for a few years before 2005, but that Ashes series was the first time I've sat down and watched test cricket properly.

We were away for that first game last year, but I had friends texting me to let me know how it was going and I was so convinced that they were about to lose that the draw actually felt like a win!

Yeah same here. I remember being in the pub watching it and afterwards walking down the road saying to W 'I reckon we're going to win, you know.' Looking back I don't really know why I thought that. It was more than just optimism but I had a really good feeling.

I was the same - I just had this feeling that it could be our year, and thankfully I was right!

That last day was appalling to watch. I remember Trescothick saying afterwards they all aged 10 years in two hours...

I was the MOST stressed about the last day at the Oval.
